Terms of Service

Terms of Service, with care.

These Terms govern your use of Spoken Letter, including accounts, family spaces, recordings, AI-assisted drafts, purchases, downloads, and related services.

Last updated: July 16, 2026

01

Accepting these terms

By creating an account, joining a family space, recording or uploading content, buying credits, redeeming a voucher, or using Spoken Letter, you agree to these Terms.

If you use Spoken Letter for a family, organization, or another person, you confirm that you have authority to do so and that you will follow these Terms.

02

Adult use only

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use Spoken Letter.

Children are not account holders and should not use the app. Owners and Co-Owners are responsible for deciding which stories are appropriate for recipients and for managing all delivery outside the app.

03

Accounts and family spaces

You are responsible for your account, sign-in credentials, invite links, family spaces, and the activity that happens through your access.

Owners control family spaces, recipients, Co-Owners, sender access, story requests, and downloads. Senders may only access spaces they were invited to or granted access to.

You agree to provide accurate account information, keep your account secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

04

Your content

You keep ownership of your recordings, uploads, prompts, story ideas, scripts, narrations, and other content you provide.

You grant Spoken Letter permission to host, copy, process, transcribe, transform, generate from, store, display, export, and transmit your content as needed to provide and improve the service.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed for anything you upload or record, including permission from people whose voices, stories, names, or memories appear in your content.

05

AI-assisted drafts

Spoken Letter uses AI-assisted drafts to help adults shape memories and story ideas into child-friendly scripts. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, repetitive, or unsuitable.

You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving story content before download or delivery. The owner-controlled download is the approval boundary for a story leaving the app.

AI supports the sender and Owner. It does not replace family judgment, and it does not create a direct child-to-AI interaction.

06

Acceptable use

Do not use Spoken Letter to create, upload, distribute, or request unlawful, abusive, exploitative, hateful, sexual, harassing, deceptive, infringing, or unsafe content.

Do not upload a child's voice recording, create accounts for children, collect unnecessary child details, impersonate someone, violate another person's privacy, bypass access controls, scrape the service, or interfere with security or reliability.

Do not upload copyrighted audio, books, music, characters, or other material unless you have the rights to use it in the way you request.

07

Payments and credits

Paid features, story credits, subscriptions, bundles, vouchers, and promotions may be offered through Stripe Checkout or related payment flows.

Prices, included credits, renewal terms, and taxes are shown at checkout. You authorize the payment method you provide to be charged for purchases you make.

Refunds and cancellation are covered by our Refund Policy at spokenletter.com/refunds: unused credits are refundable in full at any time, stories you have already made are covered by a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, and the monthly subscription can be cancelled at any time from your account. That policy is part of these Terms.

We may change prices or product packaging prospectively. Changes will not reduce credits you already purchased unless required for security, fraud prevention, or legal reasons.

08

Yoto and third-party services

Spoken Letter exports audio intended for adult-managed use with Yoto Make Your Own cards, but Spoken Letter is not affiliated with Yoto and Yoto does not sponsor or endorse the service.

Your use of Stripe, Google, Firebase, Google Analytics, Vercel, Yoto, email providers, app stores, browsers, devices, and other third-party services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

09

Service changes

Spoken Letter is an evolving product. We may add, remove, suspend, limit, or change features, plans, pricing, providers, safety systems, or availability.

We may suspend or terminate access if we believe an account violates these Terms, creates risk, infringes rights, threatens security, or could harm the service or other users.

10

Disclaimers and limits

Spoken Letter is provided as is and as available. We do not promise uninterrupted service, error-free output, permanent storage, compatibility with every device, or that every story will meet your expectations.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Spoken Letter and its team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or service interruption.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid to Spoken Letter for the service giving rise to the claim in the three months before the event.

11

Contact and changes

Questions about these Terms can be sent to hello@spokenletter.com.

We may update these Terms as Spoken Letter changes. If changes are material, we will provide notice in the product, by email, or by updating this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
